There is a point almost every kitesurfer reaches where things stop flowing as easily as they did at the beginning. The first days are exciting, everything is new, and progress feels fast. Then suddenly, you feel stuck. You can ride, but not comfortably. You try to go upwind but keep losing ground. You attempt small jumps but they feel inconsistent. You know you are improving, but something is holding you back.

This phase is completely normal. It is also where most riders either break through or stay at the same level for a long time. The difference is not talent. It is understanding what is really limiting your progression and knowing how to work on it.

One of the most common frustrations is not being able to stay upwind. It feels like no matter how hard you try, you keep drifting downwind and losing your position. The instinct is often to blame the board or the wind, but most of the time the issue comes down to a few key fundamentals.

Your body position plays a huge role. If you are standing too upright, you are not creating enough resistance against the kite. You need to lean back, extend your front leg, and keep your weight through your harness, not your arms. The board edge is what allows you to go upwind, and if you are not holding that edge, you will slide downwind without even realizing it.

Kite position is another major factor. Many riders keep the kite too high because it feels safer. But when the kite is too high, it pulls you upward instead of forward. To go upwind, you need to bring the kite lower, around forty five degrees, so it generates forward pull. This allows your board to cut through the water instead of being dragged sideways.

Speed is also essential. It may sound counterintuitive, but going slower often makes it harder to go upwind. When you have speed, your board becomes more stable and easier to edge. Without speed, everything feels unstable and you lose direction.

Once you start understanding these elements, going upwind becomes less of a mystery and more of a skill you can control. And this is where progression really starts.

After you begin riding comfortably and managing your direction, the next goal for many riders is jumping. This is where things become exciting again, but also frustrating if you don’t have the right approach.

Many riders try to jump too early without having strong fundamentals. They pull hard on the bar, send the kite aggressively, and hope for lift. Sometimes it works, but it is inconsistent and often out of control.

Improving your jumps fast is not about power. It is about timing and control. The key is your edge. Before you jump, you need to build tension by edging hard against the kite. This creates the energy that will lift you.

Then comes the kite movement. Instead of yanking the bar, you send the kite smoothly upward. The combination of your edge release and the kite movement creates lift. If your timing is off, the jump feels weak or uncontrolled.

Another important detail is what happens in the air. Many beginners forget to keep the kite flying. They focus only on takeoff, but the kite needs to stay active to support you. Small adjustments in the air make a big difference in how stable and controlled your jump feels.

Landing is also part of the jump. A good landing comes from redirecting the kite forward and absorbing the impact with your legs. If you don’t redirect the kite, you lose speed and balance.

Once you start feeling comfortable with small jumps, the next question naturally comes up. What is the easiest trick to try after your first jumps?

The answer is something simple that builds on what you already know. A small grab is often a great first step. It doesn’t require a big jump, but it teaches you control in the air and awareness of your body position.

Another good option is a basic transition with a small hop. This helps you combine direction change with airtime. It builds coordination and prepares you for more advanced tricks later on.

The key is to keep things simple. You don’t need to rush into complex tricks. Progression in kitesurfing is about layering skills. Each small step builds the foundation for the next one.

At this stage, many riders are also trying to move from beginner to independent rider. This transition is one of the most important in your journey. It is the moment where you stop relying on instructions for every step and start making your own decisions on the water.

To become independent, you need more than just technical skills. You need awareness. You need to understand the wind, your surroundings, and your limits. You need to be able to launch, ride, and return safely without constant guidance.

One of the biggest shifts here is confidence. Not overconfidence, but a calm understanding of what you can handle. This comes from repetition and experience. The more you ride in different conditions, the more comfortable you become.

Another key element is consistency. It is not about having one good session. It is about being able to repeat your skills in different situations. This is what turns you into an independent rider.

But even at this stage, many people feel like something is still holding them back. And very often, that something is kite control.

Kite control is the foundation of everything in kitesurfing. If your kite control is inconsistent, everything else becomes harder. Your riding, your upwind ability, your jumps, all of it depends on how well you manage the kite.

Many riders underestimate this. They focus on the board, on tricks, on progression, but the real limitation is in how they fly the kite. Small mistakes in kite positioning can create big problems.

For example, if your kite is constantly moving when it should be stable, you lose efficiency. If you oversteer, you create unnecessary power spikes. If you react too late, you lose control.

Improving kite control is about precision. It is about making small, intentional movements instead of large, reactive ones. It is about feeling where the kite is without having to look at it all the time.

One of the best ways to improve this is to slow things down. Instead of always pushing for more speed or bigger jumps, take time to focus on how you fly the kite. Practice keeping it stable. Practice moving it smoothly. Pay attention to how it responds.

This kind of awareness changes everything. Suddenly, riding feels easier. You use less energy. You feel more in control. And this control carries into every other aspect of your progression.

What most riders don’t realize is that all these challenges are connected. Struggling to stay upwind, inconsistent jumps, difficulty progressing, it often comes back to the same fundamentals. Body position, edge control, kite positioning, and awareness.

When you work on these elements with intention, everything starts to improve together. Progression becomes smoother and more predictable.

This is also where having the right environment and guidance makes a huge difference. Trying to figure everything out alone can take a long time. Small corrections from an experienced coach can accelerate your progress significantly.

It is not about being told what to do all the time. It is about having someone who can see what you don’t see and help you adjust. Sometimes a small change in posture or timing is all it takes to unlock the next level.

Being in a place with consistent wind also plays a big role. The more you ride, the faster you learn. You build muscle memory. You gain confidence. You move through challenges without losing momentum.

Progression in kitesurfing is not linear. There are moments of fast improvement and moments where things feel stuck. The key is to stay patient and focused on the fundamentals.

If you feel like you are not progressing, it does not mean you are doing something wrong. It usually means you are at the point where small details matter more. And once you understand those details, everything starts to click.

If you want to move through this phase faster and in a more structured way, with coaching that focuses on exactly these elements, you can visit our next camp at globakitetrips.com and see if it feels like the right fit for you.

There is a moment that comes up for almost everyone thinking about learning kitesurfing. You start searching, comparing destinations, reading blogs, watching videos, and very quickly Brazil shows up as one of the best places in the world. Then Ceará. And then one name keeps appearing again and again: Cumbuco.

So the real question becomes simple. Is Cumbuco actually one of the best places to learn kitesurfing, or is it just popular because everyone goes there?

The answer is not just about popularity. It is about how well a place supports your learning from day one. And when you break down what really matters for beginners, Cumbuco starts to make a lot of sense.

The first thing to understand is that learning kitesurfing is not just about trying the sport. It is about building consistency. The biggest mistake people make when choosing a destination is focusing only on how beautiful a place looks, instead of how reliable the conditions are. Because without consistent wind, progress becomes slow and frustrating.

Cumbuco is known for its steady trade winds during the main season. The wind blows almost every day, and more importantly, it is predictable. For a beginner, this changes everything. Instead of waiting and hoping for good conditions, you can plan your sessions and build momentum.

That momentum is key. When you practice day after day, your body starts to understand the kite faster. You don’t lose what you learned in the previous session. You come back to the water and continue from where you left off. This is how real progression happens.

But wind alone is not enough. The type of water you are learning in has a huge impact on how fast you improve. This is where Cumbuco becomes even more interesting.

The main beach offers ocean conditions with small waves and some chop. This is great because it gives you a real kitesurfing experience from the beginning. You learn how to handle movement in the water, how to manage your balance, and how to deal with changing conditions.

At the same time, just a short distance from Cumbuco, there are lagoons with flat water. These lagoons are one of the biggest advantages for beginners. Flat water removes a lot of the difficulty. It allows you to focus on your kite control and your board skills without being constantly challenged by waves.

Many beginners experience a breakthrough when they switch from choppy water to flat water. Suddenly, things that felt difficult become easier. Standing up on the board, keeping your direction, and gaining confidence all happen faster.

This combination of ocean and lagoon gives you flexibility. You are not stuck in one type of condition. You can adapt your learning based on what you need. If you feel comfortable, you stay in the ocean. If you need a smoother environment, you go to the lagoon. This balance is one of the reasons why so many people succeed in Cumbuco.

Another important factor is accessibility. Cumbuco is located very close to Fortaleza, which has an international airport. After your flight, you are only a short transfer away from the beach. This makes the whole experience easier, especially if it is your first kite trip.

You don’t arrive exhausted after a long journey to a remote location. You arrive, settle in, and you are already close to the spot. This simplicity reduces stress and allows you to focus on what really matters.

Then there is the infrastructure. Cumbuco is one of the most established kitesurfing destinations in Brazil. There are many schools, accommodations, restaurants, and services. This means you have options. You can choose the type of experience that fits you best.

For beginners, this also means access to experienced instructors. Good coaching is essential. It is not just about learning the basics. It is about understanding what you are doing, correcting mistakes early, and building good habits from the start.

Without proper guidance, it is easy to develop bad habits that slow down your progression. With the right coaching, you move forward with clarity. You know what to focus on, and you understand why.

One of the most challenging phases in kitesurfing is the transition from beginner to independent rider. This is where many people feel stuck. You can ride a bit, maybe go downwind, but you are not fully in control yet.

Cumbuco is a great place to go through this phase because you have the conditions and the support to keep improving. You can practice staying upwind, work on your kite control, and build confidence in different environments.

Another aspect that plays a big role is the atmosphere of the place. Cumbuco has a relaxed beach-town feeling. It is not overly busy or stressful, but it still has enough energy to keep things interesting.

Your days naturally fall into a rhythm. You wake up, have breakfast, check the wind, go for a session, rest, maybe go again later. This routine supports learning. It keeps you focused without feeling pressured.

There is also a strong sense of community. Many people travel alone to learn kitesurfing. In Cumbuco, it is easy to meet others who are on the same journey. You share sessions, talk about your progress, and encourage each other.

This social connection is more important than it seems. It keeps you motivated. When you see others improving, it pushes you to keep going. When you have a difficult session, you realize you are not the only one.

Of course, it is important to be honest about the challenges as well. Because Cumbuco is popular, the main beach can sometimes be crowded. For a beginner, seeing many kites in the air can feel intimidating at first.

But this is something that can be managed. With proper instruction, you will be guided to the right areas for your level. And again, the lagoons provide an alternative when you want more space.

Another thing to consider is that learning kitesurfing takes time. Even in perfect conditions, you will have moments of frustration. You will crash, make mistakes, and feel like you are not progressing fast enough.

This is completely normal. The key is consistency and patience. And this is exactly what Cumbuco allows you to have. Instead of losing days without wind or dealing with difficult conditions, you get the opportunity to practice regularly.

A common question is how long it takes to learn. In a place like Cumbuco, one week can already make a big difference. With daily sessions, many beginners manage to get up on the board and ride short distances.

If you stay longer, the progress becomes more noticeable. Two weeks can take you much further. You start to feel more in control, more independent, and more confident in your abilities.

Gear is another topic that often comes up. Many beginners wonder if they should bring their own equipment. In most cases, it is better to use school gear at the beginning. It is designed for learning and regularly maintained.

Once you progress, you can start thinking about your own setup. But in the early stages, keeping things simple helps you focus on learning.

Fitness is also something people worry about. The truth is, you do not need to be extremely fit to learn kitesurfing. Basic fitness helps, but technique is far more important. With the right approach, most people can learn.

When you compare Cumbuco to other kitesurfing destinations in Brazil, you start to see its strength. Some places are more remote, quieter, or more suited for advanced riders. Others may have amazing scenery but less consistent conditions.

Cumbuco offers a balance. It is accessible, reliable, and well adapted to learning. It gives you everything you need without unnecessary complications.

At the same time, it is not just about learning. It is about the experience. The feeling of being by the ocean, the energy of the wind, the connection with other riders, the small moments that make the trip memorable.

Learning kitesurfing is not just a technical process. It is something that builds confidence. It pushes you out of your comfort zone. It shows you what you are capable of.

Cumbuco provides the environment for that to happen in a natural way. It supports your progression while allowing you to enjoy the journey.

So is Cumbuco the best place to learn kitesurfing in Brazil? For many people, especially beginners and intermediate riders, the answer is yes. It offers the right mix of conditions, support, and atmosphere.

It is not about being perfect. It is about giving you the best chance to succeed. And that is what makes Cumbuco stand out.

When you look at a kite, it’s easy to focus on the shape, size, or brand. But what really defines how a kite flies — how fast it turns, how well it drifts, how stable it feels — is something most riders don’t think about:

👉 the materials used to build it

Over the past few years, kiteboarding has entered a true materials revolution. From traditional Dacron to cutting-edge composites like Aluula, brands are constantly innovating to improve performance, reduce weight, and increase durability.

In this guide, we’ll break down:

The main materials used in kiteboarding

Which brands use them

Why companies choose specific materials

And how it affects your riding

🧵 1. Canopy Materials (The “Skin” of the Kite)

The canopy is the largest part of your kite — and one of the most important.

What it needs to do:

Stay light

Resist stretching

Maintain shape under tension

Handle UV and water exposure

🟡 Ripstop Polyester (Industry Standard)

Most kites today still use high-quality ripstop polyester fabrics like:

Teijin Technoforce D2

Quad-Tex

👉 These materials are:

Lightweight

Durable

Low stretch

According to industry sources, ripstop polyester remains the standard because it balances weight, durability, and cost extremely well.

🏄 Brands using this:

Duotone

Cabrinha

Naish

Slingshot

🧠 Why brands use it:

Proven reliability

Affordable production

Easy to repair

Good balance for all riders

👉 This is why most freeride kites still use it

🧱 2. Dacron (The Structure / Frame)

If the canopy is the skin, Dacron is the skeleton.

It’s used in:

Leading edge

Struts

Reinforcement zones

⚙️ What is Dacron?

Dacron is a high-strength polyester fabric designed to:

Hold air pressure

Maintain shape

Absorb impacts

It’s heavier than canopy material but provides essential structure.

🏄 Brands using Dacron:

Basically every brand, including:

Core Kiteboarding

North Kiteboarding

Airush

🧠 Why companies use it:

Extremely durable

Proven over decades

Handles crashes well

Keeps kite stable

⚠️ Downsides:

Heavy

Can stretch over time

Reduces performance in light wind

👉 This is why brands started innovating…

🚀 3. Aluula (The Game-Changer Material)

This is where things get interesting.

🟠 What is Aluula?

Aluula Composites developed a composite laminate material used in high-end kites.

🧠 Translation for riders:

Beginner → standard materials are perfect

Intermediate → hybrid materials help progression

Advanced → high-performance materials unlock full potential

🌊 Why Materials Change How Your Kite Feels

This is where it becomes real.

1. Weight

Lighter kite =

Easier relaunch

3. Durability

Stronger materials =

Longer lifespan

Less deformation

Consistent performance

4. Shape retention

Better materials =
👉 kite keeps its shape longer

Which means:

better performance over time

less “mushy” feeling

🧠 Why Brands Choose Different Materials

This is NOT random.

Every brand balances:

1. Performance vs cost

Aluula = amazing but expensive

Dacron = cheaper and proven

2. Target rider

Beginners → durability > performance

Advanced → performance > cost

3. Marketing & positioning

High-end kites:

Use premium materials

Sell performance

Entry-level kites:

Use classic materials

Sell reliability

4. Discipline

Different riding styles = different materials:

Big air → stiff and strong

Wave → light and drifty

Freeride → balanced

⚠️ The Truth Most Brands Won’t Tell You

👉 Materials matter… but design matters just as much

A well-designed Dacron kite can:

outperform a poorly designed Aluula kite

👉 It’s not just the material — it’s how it’s used

🧠 Real Takeaway for Riders

If you’re choosing gear:

Don’t chase hype

Understand your level

Match material to your riding style

Simple rule:

Beginner → keep it simple

Intermediate → upgrade materials

Advanced → go high performance

🚀 Want to Actually Feel the Difference?

Reading about materials is one thing…

👉 Feeling it on the water is completely different.

At our kite camps, we:

Help you understand your gear

Adjust your setup (board + kite)

This is where everything clicks.

There is a moment that happens to almost everyone who is thinking about learning kitesurfing. You start searching, comparing destinations, watching videos, and Brazil quickly comes up as one of the best places in the world. Then Ceará. And very soon, one name appears again and again: Cumbuco.

So the question becomes simple. Is Cumbuco actually one of the best places to learn kitesurfing, or is it just popular because everyone goes there?

The truth is, Cumbuco has earned its reputation for a reason. It combines consistent wind, easy access, strong infrastructure, and a learning environment that works extremely well for beginners. But like any destination, it is important to understand what makes it special and whether it fits your expectations.

Let’s start with what matters most when learning kitesurfing. Wind consistency. Without wind, there is no progress. And this is where Cumbuco stands out immediately. During the main season, the wind blows almost every day. It is steady, predictable, and reliable. This allows beginners to practice daily, which is one of the biggest advantages you can have.

Learning kitesurfing is all about repetition. The more time you spend with the kite, the faster your body understands it. In places with inconsistent wind, you might lose days waiting. In Cumbuco, you build momentum. One session connects to the next, and progress feels continuous instead of fragmented.

But wind alone is not enough. The water conditions play a huge role, especially in the early stages. Cumbuco offers a mix of ocean riding and access to nearby lagoons. This combination is one of the reasons why it is so popular for learning.

In the ocean, you get the real experience, small waves, chop, and the feeling of open water. It prepares you for riding in different conditions. But for beginners, this can sometimes feel challenging. That is where the lagoons come in.

A short drive from Cumbuco, you have flat water lagoons that are ideal for learning. Flat water makes everything easier. Standing up, controlling the board, maintaining balance, all of it becomes more accessible. Many beginners have a breakthrough moment the first time they try flat water after struggling in chop.

This flexibility allows you to adapt your learning. You can start in easier conditions, build confidence, and then gradually move into the ocean. It creates a smoother progression path.

Another major advantage of Cumbuco is accessibility. It is located very close to Fortaleza, which has a large international airport. The transfer is quick and simple. For many travelers, especially first-timers, this makes a big difference. You arrive and you are already close to the spot, without long or complicated logistics.

Then there is the infrastructure. Cumbuco is one of the most developed kite destinations in Brazil. There are many schools, accommodations, restaurants, and services. This gives you options. Whether you are looking for a full kite camp experience or something more independent, you can find it.

For beginners, this also means access to experienced instructors and structured lessons. Good coaching is essential. It helps you avoid mistakes, understand the fundamentals, and progress safely. In a place like Cumbuco, you are surrounded by professionals who do this every day.

However, there is something important to mention. Because Cumbuco is popular, it can also be busy. On windy days, the main beach can have many kites in the air. For some beginners, this can feel intimidating at first.

But this is not necessarily a disadvantage. It also means you are in a place where a lot is happening. You can watch other riders, learn from them, feel the energy of the sport. And with proper guidance, you will be placed in areas that are suitable for your level.

Another option is to use the lagoons when the beach feels too crowded. This again shows the advantage of having different spots available. You are not limited to one environment.

The lifestyle in Cumbuco is another strong point. It has a relaxed, beach-town feel, but with enough activity to keep things interesting. There are cafes, small restaurants, places to relax after a session. It is easy to settle into a routine where your day revolves around the wind.

Wake up, have breakfast, check the conditions, go ride, rest, maybe go for another session later. This rhythm supports learning. It keeps you focused without feeling rushed.

One of the most underestimated aspects of learning kitesurfing is the mental side. Confidence plays a huge role. If you feel comfortable in your environment, you learn faster. Cumbuco offers a balance between activity and comfort that helps with this.

Another important factor is the progression from beginner to independent rider. This is where many people get stuck. You can do the basics, but you are not fully in control yet. You might struggle to stay upwind or feel unsure in certain situations.

In Cumbuco, with consistent wind and access to both ocean and flat water, this transition becomes more manageable. You can practice the same skills in different conditions, which helps you understand them better.

The community also plays a role. Many people travel alone to learn kitesurfing. In Cumbuco, it is easy to meet others who are on the same journey. This creates a supportive environment. You share sessions, talk about your progress, encourage each other.

This connection is part of the experience. It makes the trip more than just learning a sport. It becomes something you remember for the people as well.

Of course, it is important to set realistic expectations. You will not become an expert in a few days. Learning kitesurfing takes time, patience, and practice. There will be moments of frustration. That is normal.

But what Cumbuco offers is the possibility to progress efficiently. It removes many of the barriers that slow people down. You have wind, you have options, you have support.

Another common question is how long it takes to learn. In a place like Cumbuco, one week can already give you a solid foundation. With daily sessions, many beginners reach the point where they can start riding on the board.

If you stay longer, the progress becomes more significant. Two weeks can take you much further, sometimes to the point of riding independently, depending on your pace and consistency.

Gear is another topic that comes up often. For beginners, it is usually better to use school equipment at first. It is adapted to learning and maintained regularly. Bringing your own gear becomes more relevant once you have more experience.

Fitness is also less of a barrier than many think. You do not need to be extremely fit. Basic physical condition helps, but technique is far more important. With proper instruction, most people can learn.

When comparing Cumbuco to other destinations in Ceará, you will find that each place has its own character. Some are quieter, more remote, more focused on advanced riding or downwinders. Cumbuco stands out because of its balance. It is accessible, developed, and still very focused on kitesurfing.

This makes it especially suitable for beginners and intermediate riders who want a mix of comfort and progression.

So is Cumbuco the best place to learn kitesurfing in Brazil? For many people, yes. Especially if you value easy access, consistent wind, good infrastructure, and the option to adapt your learning between ocean and flat water.

It is not about being perfect. It is about offering the right conditions for most people to succeed. And that is exactly what Cumbuco does.

If you are looking for a place where you can learn, progress, and enjoy the experience without unnecessary complications, Cumbuco is a very strong choice.

If you want to take it a step further and learn in a structured, supportive environment with coaching and a group that is going through the same journey, you can visit our next camp at globakitetrips.com and see if it feels like the right fit for you.

Brazil has become one of the top kitesurfing destinations in the world, attracting riders from Europe, North America, and beyond. If you’re planning a trip, understanding the wind season is essential to getting the most out of your experience.

In this complete guide, we break down the best time to kitesurf in Brazil, month-by-month wind conditions, and how to choose the perfect time depending on your level and goals.

🌍 Why Brazil is One of the Best Kitesurfing Destinations

The northeast region of Ceará offers something unique that very few places in the world can match: consistent, reliable wind for months.

This happens because of:

Trade winds from the Atlantic Ocean

Stable tropical weather patterns

Flat coastal geography that accelerates wind

👉 The result:
Wind almost every day for half the year

Unlike many kite destinations where you might get 3–4 good days per week, Brazil often delivers 6–7 rideable days per week during peak season.

🌬️ Brazil Wind Season Overview

The main kitesurfing season in Brazil runs from:

👉 July to January

Peak months:

👉 September to November

During this period, you can expect:

20–30 knots of wind

Sunny skies

Warm water

Consistent daily sessions

📅 Month-by-Month Breakdown

Here’s a detailed look at what to expect throughout the year:

🟡 July – Start of the Season

Wind: 15–25 knots

Consistency: Good

👉 Ideal for:

Beginners

First-time visitors

Riders who prefer lighter wind

🟡 August – Building Consistency

Wind: 18–28 knots

Consistency: Very good

Weather: Dry, sunny

👉 One of the best balance months:

Good wind

Less crowded than peak season

🔥 September – Peak Season Begins

Wind: 20–30 knots

👉 This is when Brazil really shines:

Strong, reliable wind

Perfect for progression

🔥 October – Prime Conditions

Wind: 22–30+ knots

Consistency: Near perfect

Strong wind

Ideal for downwinders

Perfect for intermediate and advanced riders

🔥 November – Still Perfect

Wind: 20–28 knots

Consistency: Excellent

👉 Slightly less strong than October, but still top-tier conditions.

🟡 December – Slight Drop

Wind: 18–25 knots

Consistency: Good

👉 Still very good, but:

Slightly less reliable

More holiday crowds

🟡 January – End of Season

Wind: 15–22 knots

Consistency: Moderate

👉 Good for:

Beginners

Relaxed sessions

being almost the only one in the lagoon

❌ February to June – Off Season

Wind: Low

Rain: Higher

Conditions: Unpredictable

October 2025 brought one of our most memorable kite camps yet. This time, we headed to Ilha Do Guajiru — a destination that had been on our list for a while, and one that absolutely delivered from the very first session. With 15 guests joining us for 10 days of wind, water, and good vibes, it’s safe to say this was a camp we’ll be talking about for years to come.

Why Ilha Do Guajiru Is Perfect for Kiteboarders

If you’re looking for the ideal spot to progress your kiteboarding in Brazil, Ilha Do Guajiru checks Almost every box. The lagoon is the real star of the show — calm, shallow, and forgiving, it creates a genuinely friendly environment where progression happens fast.

Intermediate and Advanced Riders: Once you’re ready to push your limits, the open water delivers. Our guests worked hard on their jumping technique throughout the week, and the conditions rewarded them for it.

<a href="Beginners: The lagoon is an absolute dream for anyone just starting out.

Progression Was the Name of the Game

This camp had some of the most visible progression we’ve ever witnessed. The standout story? Julia. On Day 1, she was brand new to the sport — nervous, excited, and figuring out her kite on the beach. By the end of Day 10, she was riding independently. Watching that transformation over the course of the camp was one of those moments that reminds you exactly why we do this.

But Julia wasn’t alone. Nearly everyone in the group made meaningful jumps in their riding — whether it was nailing a cleaner takeoff, getting more hang time, or simply feeling more confident and in control on the water. Confidence was the big win for this group, and it showed in every session.

The 15km Downwinder

No kite camp is complete without at least one epic adventure on the water, and this year we delivered. Mid-week, the whole group tackled a 15km downwinder along the coast — wind in our favor, good speed, and stunning scenery the whole way. It was one of those sessions that pushes everyone a little outside their comfort zone and bonds a group together in a way that’s hard to replicate on land. Everyone finished buzzing.

Life at Pousada Nômade do Kite

When we weren’t on the water, we were living very well at Pousada Nômade do Kite. The food and drinks were, simply put, outstanding. We ate way too much seafood — fresh, local, and absolutely delicious — and nobody was complaining. The pousada has a warmth and character that makes it feel less like accommodation and more like a home base for the week.

Midway through the trip, we paused the kiteboarding briefly for something equally important: Julien’s birthday. The celebration was exactly what you’d want — great people, great food, great drinks, and plenty of laughs. It was one of those spontaneous camp moments that ends up being a highlight of the whole trip.

A Group to Remember

Fifteen guests, ten days, one lagoon, and more laughs than we can count. This group had an incredible energy from day one — supportive of each other, eager to learn, and ready to make the most of every session and every meal. It’s a reminder that the community around kiteboarding is one of its greatest gifts.

What’s Next?

.We’re already deep in planning mode for our next two camps in Cumbuco, kicking off on October 24th and November 14th — and they’re going to be special.

Expect epic downwinders along Brazil’s wild coastline, perfect lagoon sessions, sunset BBQs, and delicious meals cooked on site in our brand-new private houses.

2026 is going to be something special. Don’t miss it.

Another year of kiteboarding in brazil has come and gone, and this time, we ventured to a new gem on Brazil’s coast: Emboaca. This picturesque spot has been on our radar for years, ever since a friend shared his dream of building a boutique hotel, Vento Vince, there. After our first sessions in the area, we knew it was a perfect location for a kite camp, and this year, we brought that vision to life.

Why Emboaca Is Perfect for Kiteboarders – Kiteboarding in Brazil!

If you’re searching for the ideal kiteboarding in brazil, Emboaca has it all: strong winds, excellent water conditions, and a laid-back atmosphere. It’s an amazing spot for riders at all levels:

Beginners: The steady, reliable wind and flat water at low tide make it a safe and supportive environment for those learning or taking their first kiteboarding lessons.

Intermediate and Advanced Riders: It’s the perfect playground for those ready to work on jumps, back rolls, front rolls, and more advanced tricks. The high tide waves create natural kickers for big air, while the side-offshore winds ensure clean, rideable waves for wave riding.

If you’re a wave rider or even a surfer, Emboaca’s side-offshore winds create beautifully clean waves. There are also moments during the year where you can ride these waves without a kite for a different kind of thrill.

Take Your Kiteboarding to the Next Level

Our kite camp wasn’t just about fun—it was also about progression. With expert coaching available for those wanting to refine their skills, we offer coaching on the water during the kite sessions and video analysis every morning to identify areas of improvement so you work on and progress your kiteboarding efficiently. Whether you’re a beginner starting with your first water starts or an advanced rider practicing powered tricks, the Kiteboarding coaching in brazil was a game-changer for our guests.

To help our guests improve their kitesurfing techniques, we included daily video analysis sessions. This allowed everyone to see their progress, identify areas for improvement, and receive personalized feedback. The video analysis was instrumental in helping everyone, regardless of their skill level, to advance and gain confidence in their abilities.

Cherished Memories Captured

Throughout the camp, we captured countless memories in photos and videos. At the end of the trip, each guest went home with a beautiful video compilation and a collection of photos that highlighted the best moments of the camp. These mementos ensure that the wonderful experiences and new friendships made will be remembered for years to come.

This trip proved to be yet another unforgettable gem, especially notable this year with the addition of a newcomer to the kiteboarding scene. Elliot, a complete novice, embarked on this adventure with zero prior experience. By the trip’s end, he had accomplished a remarkable feat, successfully completing a portion of a lengthy downwinder. Reflecting on his journey, Elliot described kiteboarding as an incredible sport that he believes everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.

Daniel, an avid traveler with a wealth of camp experiences under his belt, found this trip to be truly awe-inspiring and unlike any other he had encountered. From the breathtaking vistas to the rich cultural immersion and exceptional coaching, Daniel struggled to articulate the full breadth of his experience in mere words. He insists that the only way to truly comprehend the magic of this journey is to experience it firsthand.

For Lacey, revisiting familiar shores took on a whole new dimension as she returned to Colombia, this time as an independent kiteboarder. Delighting in culinary delights such as abundant lobsters and relishing the opportunity to glide over buttery flat waters, Lacey found immense satisfaction in Antoine’s coaching. She enthusiastically recommends a trip of this nature to anyone looking to swiftly and substantially elevate their kiteboarding skills.

As always, we stayed at Tawi Kite Center during our time in Cabo de la Vela — an incredible base for exploring the region and enjoying consistent wind. If you’re planning a trip there, you can check them out here: https://tawikitecabo.com/

Another highlight of the journey was Punta Gallinas. Getting there is part of the adventure — a 4-hour 4×4 drive through the desert, crossing rough terrain to reach a truly remote kiteboarding paradise. When we arrived, Dum Dum was there as always, welcoming us with a big smile at Hospedaje Luzmila: https://maps.app.goo.gl/GtCVB6LUbNLUxD4f7

We wrapped up the trip in the lush jungle of Palomino, a complete contrast to the desert landscapes. We stayed here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/hLw4scKQreKEg1Ut6 and the next day enjoyed a beautiful river float — the perfect way to end the adventure.

Embarking on a truly memorable journey with the ever-jovial Nick Matthews was an adventure like no other. Nick’s penchant for playful jests often leads him to humorously use his own name when making restaurant reservations, adding a delightful touch of whimsy to our travels. Despite his playful nature, Nick’s dedication to kiteboarding is evident, even though his previous injury limits his time on the board.

Our destination? The captivating island of Aruba, chosen to cater not only to Nick’s passion but also to the varied interests of his family. Aruba, renowned for its culinary delights, indulged our desire for fresh and delectable cuisine at every turn. From the tantalizing truffle sauce to the mouthwatering spaghetti with Parmesan and the succulent fillet of fresh tuna, the island’s culinary offerings left no palate unsatisfied.

Aruba’s windy shores presented a thrilling challenge for Antoine, with an offshore wind spot that undoubtedly ranks as one of the gustiest he’s ever encountered. Yet, despite its intensity, the onshore wind offered great conditions for kiteboarding, especially when the tides aligned, providing ample opportunities for progression—much to the delight of young Julien and Nick’s wife, Julie.

As we ventured beyond the city limits, the crystal-clear waters revealed an abundance of wildlife, enchanting us at every turn. The trip proved to be another resounding success, fulfilling the desires of our guests beyond expectation. However, it’s worth noting that if your sole focus is on exceptional kiteboarding without regard for other pleasures, Aruba may not be the ideal destination for you.
